TexTiler
A downloadable tool for Windows and Linux
TexTiler
Tileable textures for retro and stylized games, from crunchy low-res to clean HD. Stack layers, hit a seed, get a material.
TexTiler is a layer-based procedural texture generator for game artists. Stack noises, patterns and filters like you would in an image editor, and every map stays tileable, editable and real-time. When you're done, export a full map set, or pack dozens of materials into one atlas with a shader include ready to drop into your engine.
Built in Rust on wgpu: it opens fast, runs on modest GPUs and doesn't need an internet connection.

Features
- Non-destructive layers – generators, filters and masks in a stack, all tweakable at any time
- Always seamless – every generator and filter wraps, so tiling is never a cleanup step
- 77 built-in presets – metals, walls, asphalt, retro textures and more; each one is a regular project you can open, edit and save over
- Smart masks – curvature-based coverage (edges, cavities, facing) and edge wear
- Blender-style gradient ramp for remapping any layer to color
- Live 3D preview of the material while you work
- Seeds everywhere – regenerate variations of the same material in one click
- Retro color processing – palette quantization and dithering inspired by classic consoles like the PlayStation and Game Boy

Animated textures
- Animate any parameter over time: scroll, warp, noise evolution, color shifts
- Perfect loops: set the length and the animation wraps with no pop
- Export as a flipbook sprite sheet (any grid size) with frame count and FPS in the JSON
- Great for water, lava, fire, conveyor belts, neon signs and glitchy screens and many more.

Atlas builder
- Pack multiple materials into one atlas, with slots that span 2x2, 2x1 and more
- Per-slot seeds, so the same preset gives you several distinct variations
- Wrap padding to prevent bleeding, or export as a Texture Array instead
- Exports every map, a JSON layout and an HLSL include (
TEXTILER_SAMPLE_ATLAS) to sample it in your shader
Export
- Base color, normal, height, roughness, curvature and more as PNG
- Fits both modern PBR pipelines and classic retro workflows.
- Complete map sets – export base color, normal, height, roughness, curvature and more as PNG
- Engine-ready output – export atlas layouts, shader includes and texture maps ready to integrate into your game engine

Made for game dev
TexTiler was built for a retro rally game, so it cares about the stuff that matters in production: small textures that tile cleanly, atlases that cut draw calls, and output that drops straight into Unity, Unreal, Godot or Blender.
Requirements
- Windows 10/11, 64-bit
- GPU with Vulkan, DirectX 12 or OpenGL support
Roadmap
TexTiler is in active development. Buying it now gets you every future update. Up next: trim sheets, height-based material blending, stochastic tiling, Unity importer and URP/HDRP material generation.
